Key to my Heart.

Hello Everyone.
As many of you know I do not do masculine, I have been made to make the odd one for Dt requirements but I am not inclined to lean towards this genre.
Having said this, dearest one is having a birthday and I admit to feeling a pang of guilt when I purchase a card for him, whereas every female family member receives a handmade creation. So this year I have made the effort to make him a card.

I will start with the background.
The technique of using your negative wastes to make a Bg.
I painted this up in Magenta, Yellow and Quin Gold.

When dry covered it in a Black wash.
Painted up another piece of cardstock and added some texture.

Cut this into a Heart shape and attached a painted Key.
The Key has not been rusted up because Rob brings colour into my life, I wanted it to stand out.
 Black wash again.

Mounted it up.
Rob does hold the Key to my Heart and I know this sounds mushy, but I am one of the lucky ones.
I am entering this into:

Have a great day,
Smiles:)

Holy cow Sue, this is awesome!!! I am even more guilty than you are when it comes to hubby, he doesn't get a card from me at all. I refuse to buy cards from the store and I don't see the point of making one that's just going to sit on the shelf in my own house. Poor guy...I do make him breakfast though. tee hee Now about this mixed media piece...LOVE IT!! That key background is just genius, love the black backing showing through! Can't say enough about that heart, I really want to touch it because that texture looks incredible!! You have made your hubby a brilliant piece that he will treasure always!!

Thank you so much for joining us at Anything But Cute for our 'Make It Masculine' challenge, you rocked it! Hugs, Pamellia DT :)

For someone who doesn't do masculine cards, you sure nailed this one. Love the background and have made a mental note to keep more of my waste - just need a place to store it:) The big heart is such a stunning focal point and that little key is a perfect added element. Thanks for joining us at Anything But Cute.
Hugs!

Sniff, sniff....excuse me while I dry my eyes...that was the SWEETEST post and tribute to a husband, EVER. I love the theme that you chose to resonate throughout his card and not going with the 'traditional' rusted key, adding the color was genius.
I dare say what you'll do next year to top this one as you've now ventured down this path..... I'm certain whatever it is, it will be heartfelt and just as marvelous as this year's birthday card!
Cheers to Rob for another year well lived :)
hugs,
Q
