Christmas Postcard.

Hello Everyone.
It is Magpie day at Country View Crafts......What is this you ask? Well it is a day where the Dt's have a set project to show, it has nothing to do with the current Challenge just an extra project for your enjoyment.
This time we have all made a Postcard, and mine is from Santa to Scarlett (Gd) sent from the North Pole acknowledging that she has been good all year and presents will be delivered on Christmas Day.

Here is  a step by step:
Swiped distress ink on mat and sprayed with water.
Swiped my card a couple of times through the Ink, drying after each pass.
Inked up a spellbinders frame in vintage photo and walnut stain.
Adding the stamps and drawing the lines.
Masking and more stamping.
Mask removed and Santa image stamped, painted and frame adhered.
More Stamping and rub-ons added.

Adding the stamp and highlights

The Back.
You can find more postcards here.

Word Play #2

Hello Everyone,
For my second project for the WorD pLaY Challenge at Country View Crafts, I created a Mixed Media Plaque.

As always I paint up the substrate; this is a piece of chipboard which was covered in Black Gesso then some paint.
I wanted the words in the centre so kept it White.
The flower has been cut from a serviette and mod podged.
I used a border stamp and stamped in White Ink.
Marked an inner border using a Black Pitt Pen.
Cut the Key and word on the cricut, and altered with Black and Gold paints.
 Added computer generated words.
Die cut flowers from Vellum
Coloured them in distress stains.
Layering the flower.

Attached the leaves and a little glossy accents.
Darkened the edges and it is finished.
The Challenge can be found here.
Have a good day,
Smiles:)

Grumpy Sue and a card.

Hello Everyone,
I am not a grumpy person by nature but this morning I was very very grumpy, I can almost admit to turning into a deranged person for a brief time and over a minor episode that involved a courier delivery. Let me set the scene.
Cold, no, freezing morning. (well not quite but it sounds better.)
Up at 6am, shower, dressed by 7.10am ( Yes, I'm slow.)
Expecting the courier man anytime as he always comes between 7-8am.
I am in the lounge at 7.15am, great I thought I have not missed him.
8.45am check it was not left outside..... On opening the door the innocuous card fluttered down .... Expostulations!!! The diatribe was shouted at this inconspicuous person none of it pleasing to the ear. Not quite apoplectic at this stage, but near enough.
The phone call was not good, and oh dear I actually blasphemed, and I do not blaspheme as I always think it is totally unnecessary; I believe one can always get one's point of view across without the Red word. Hmmm, well I failed miserably today, and I felt dreadful afterwards as it was not the receptionists fault.
The resolution, I have my package, but I had to pick it up myself. I did apologise to the receptionist, she was very understanding of my complaint (That he did not knock the door.)
The whole episode is quite pathetic really when you read it in text. I asked myself why I was so upset, and I can only say that it was because I especially got up at this ungodly hour of the day on a cold winters morning, probably still a little tired and who knows what other emotional responses were going on in my head at the time...I cannot explain why I reacted like I did, just as well I was on my own!

The end.
And now a card, for your pleasure and mine.

Three little  hearts and how symbolic they are Red.

White embossed Bg, with lace, stitching and diecut.

Hope you all have a better Monday morning, the photo below lifted my spirits.

Word Play.

Hello Everyone,
A new Challenge at Country View Crafts this month is 'WorD pLaY.'  Now this is a perfect Challenge for those of you who like to use puns or metaphors or even something inspirational on your creations.
I am rather lax in using words to their full potential on cards etc, so this was a Challenge that made me think about Words as the main focal point and not the image.

Making the substrate.
Painting up the Bg with Acrylics and stamped the JOFY flower from Paper Artsy in Black Archival Ink.
Matted and Framed.

Not a bit of lace or stitching to be seen, this is almost a CAS except there is no negative space, I still have to cover everything, but it is one layer!
If you would like to join in this month then please hop along to the CVC Blog here and while you are there, have a peek on what my talented teamies have done to inspire you.

Have fun creating,
Smiles:)
Sue
